7 Minutes in Madrid

Location: , 2 min read

Well I spent more than 7 minutes in Madrid in the beginning of this year, but due to a busy schedule, it sure felt like my trip was this short.  We, as in Madeleine, Vicky and myself, only had 3 hours in the centre (partly because we spent too much time playing tourist in our own hotel) so we had to spend them wisely. We decided to stick to one neighborhood and just enjoy everything we could see.

Every city has an area that you can best describe as the alternative creative area. Usually easy to spot by the vicinity of a Lomography store. In Madrid, these are the areas called Chueca and Justicia. On our way to Chueca we decided to get out of the cab early because we had no idea where we were and liked what we saw. We ended up on the border between Chueca and Justicia. Right where we should be. I already posted about my favorite store in the area, the DO-Concept Store but here are a couple of other must-visits when planning on visiting the area.

Nice Things

Nearby that same Lomography shop you can find the Nice Things shop. A brand you might not know yet since it doesn’t have any stores in Belgium. But I did already have some items of the brand in my closet and it’s a brand that nails quality for price. Meaning that the items are very reasonably prices while you’re getting high quality products. They also have the most beautiful lookbooks. If you can’t make it to Spain any time soon, you can already buy the brand on Lily And The Lady.

Delishop

I always love a good foodstore (a fact that has been proven yet again in New York) and Delishop is exactly that. It’s a small store but it has a lot of specialty foods from all over the world and plenty of high quality alcohols.

Bomonde

This little store is the place to be if you’re into artisan perfumes and candles or beauty products. This really is one of those store that breaths luxury. A must visit if you want to have a souvenir of Madrid that stimulates all the senses.

The Corner

I loved spending time in The Corner. It’s a great little store that sells both men’s and women’s clothing. Next to the bike hanging from the wall, they have a collection of fun brands selling clothing, shoes and other accessories. But most of all, I loved the concept and the branding behind We Are Knitters. They sell knitting kits in which you are buying high quality Peruvian sheep wool and the knitting pattern necessary for your selected outfit. Great for those who are handy ànd are looking for a high quality piece (since you will be making it yourself).
