New York screams great brunch spots, amazing dinner places, streetfood and fresh juicebars to me. I’m very curious to see how long the lines are actually going to be to get some food and how difficult it is to get a reservation in a popular spot. I also heard that it’s very New York to go to some places for brunch but it’s very not-done to eat dinner there even though the food is perfectly good. Why is that? The streetfood I’ll figure out once I’m there but as for the restaurants, I already have some spots that made me particularly curious.
1. Five Leaves
Five Leaves
18 Bedford Ave.
Greenpoint, BK, 11222
Starting off with a spot in Brooklyn because that seems like the right thing to do. Five Leaves is a place that kept coming up while looking for nice brunch places in New York (and I read it used to be owned by Heath Ledger!). It’s located where Williamsburg ends and Greenpoint begins. This screams hip and happening. It seems like the perfect New York brunch spot with a lot of creative people as regulars. Oh and Yelp says vegetarians go nuts for this spot. Check!
2. The Butcher’s Daughter
The Butcher’s Daughter
19 Kenmare Street
New York
I have to admit that I’m very fascinated by the whole organic health food movement. The Butcher’s daughter is a beautifully branded juice bar and café in Little Italy. They put great care into their vegetables, fruit ànd design. Seem like the perfect combination.
3. Co.
Co.
230 9th Avenue
New York, NY 10001
I’ve heard about New York Pizza, I’ve started to dream about New York Pizza and now I really want a slice of New York Pizza. I’ve been looking around a lot and a few places have caught my eye: Co., Lombardi’s (the first pizza place), Roberta’s, Rubirosa and so many more. It’s definitely not easy to choose which one I’ll end up at.
4. Frankies Spuntino
Frankies Spuntino
457 Court Street
Brooklyn, NY 11231
I love good Italian food and this place seems like the perfect spot to discover the Italian food experience in New York once pizza has already been discovered.
5. Tacombi at Fonda Nolita
Tacombi at Fonda Nolita
267 Elizabeth Street
New York
Just as pizza is a proclaimed american food, mexican also an american food staple. I’m not the biggest fan of mexican food but when nicely prepared, it can be quite delicious. I’m very curious about this place that has a Volkswagen in de entrance.
6. The Fat Radish
The Fat Radish
17 Orchard Street
New York, NY 10002
Sometimes one restaurant comes up so often that you just have to visit it. The Fat Radish is definitely one of them. A seemingly beautiful decor and much talked about food. Can’t wait.
7. Colonie
Colonie
127 Atlantic Ave.
Brooklyn NYC
I’ve pinned this beautiful restaurant over a year ago and was drawn in by the greenery in the middle of the restaurant. According to Petite Passport, NY folk do brunch here but they also serve dinner and have a bar for after-dinner drinks.
