Update From The Wild West

Posted on November 9, 2015

Time for an update of my travel through Western Australia, the largest state in the country. Since I’ve travelled down from Darwin to Perth, I’ve driven between 4500 and 5000 km, which is about the same as driving from Brussels to Iran! I’ve seen the ocean and finally swam in it (in the Northern Territory this is not possible), I spotted Southern Right whales and Humpback whales in the wild, I climbed a mountain, celebrated my birthday in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, tasted world class wines, I can’t even count the amount of times that I’ve seen the landscape change, I’ve traveled around in a 4WD, a stationwagon and a van and I’ve decided that I’m not ready to leave this country in the near future. Currently I’m in Perth, one of the most remote cities in the world and I’m gearing up to head back into the outback. Perth is a great city, however I don’t feel like I have explored it to its full potential. Traveling through Australia, one of the necessities is having a car, which I don’t. But if all goes well, that changes in the next few days. I’m on the hunt to buy my very first car! Yes, you read it correctly, I have had my license for 10 years and never had a car of my own. Many Australians will have their mind blown by this statement. Just one of the cultural differences between Europeans and Australians. Continue Reading

Mekong

My first look at the Mekong river was pretty special. Since the Mekong is one of the most important rivers in South-East Asia, it sometimes seems that everything revolves around this source of life. I wanted to show you this very basic (and somewhat muddy) outfit because traveling with a fashionable travel wardrobe is not only about the beauty of clothes. The practical might be more important, however, practical can also be nice to look at. This simple stripe top was the only long sleeved shirt I brought and after a couple of months it has been completely worn out. It served me pretty well though in countries where you have to cover up (like India and the Maldives) or when it got a bit colder (like northern Laos and Vietnam). What’s your favorite travelpiece? Festival Attire

Posted on July 9, 2013

As some of you might have noticed, I was happy as a clam this weekend when Rock Werchter festival started. With only one day of the festival on the books, so many more vestimentary options opened up. While I usually never would have taken my leather shorts on a 4-day Werchter trip, this one day though -with cloudy overcast- seemed like the perfect opportunity. Combined with my open back Hey Pilgrim top and trusted Vans, the outfit seemed quite a succes for the day at hand. Giving that with a pair of heels or off the festival grounds, this look wouldn’t work since it does show quite a lot of skin and has leather shorts as a focal point. Oh yeah, and also the first ever picture of (partly) my tattoo on the blog! More on the actual bands and the atmosphere to come soon. Continue Reading
