Everything in your nomad’s wardrobe, or the clothing you travel with is preferably light and extremely versatile. Weighing in at about 10 grams and having more than 20 ways to wear and use it makes a bandana the travel and fashion accessory you want to have. Wearing a bandana gives me a major throwback to my teenage years but, as this accessory has a place in almost every decade, it is kinda perfect it is back fashion. With the major fashion bloggers, models and actors wearing them, there is plenty of inspiration around. I only recently picked one up in Nimbin, the Australian mecca for hippies and lovers of the green tobacco. What I truly love about this trend is that it is super versatile, very affordable at prices between 1 and 15 euro and that you can buy all the colors in the rainbow if you want to.
Plus it can also save your life. Ok that might be a bit of an exaggeration but it can also be super helpful in our world of travel. As for the obvious ones, this lightweight can serve as a sweatband while hiking and because it is so cheap, you won’t mind putting it in the river to freshen you up. It can also provide some necessary shade for your head when a hat is too much to carry and you can use it to cover up your nose and mouth when motorbiking along on those dusty Asian roads. Next to that, there are some less than ordinary uses for this handy little piece of fabric, you can plug up sinks to do your laundry, use it to tie a splint when you get into an accident or even to tie off a heavy bleeding wound (so it can save your life!) or use it to easily identify your luggage at the airport. Really, the uses are endless.
My favorite way to wear it my light blue bandana so far is as a neckerchief, on my bag, as a choker or as a headband. If you want a more practical way to actually fold these pretty kerchiefs, have a look at this tutorial. So with no further ado, here are the gazilion ways you can wear a bandana, your perfect travel accessory, to spice up any outfit:
As a Neckerchief
As a Choker
As a Headband
As Loose Necklace/Collar
As a Bracelet
As a belt
As a Bag Accessory
And One last one
Because they are so trendy at the moment, you can basically buy them anywhere, but here are a few to choose from
