While some people are afraid of the dentist, I have a thing with hairdressers and shoemakers. My fears originate in the fact that you’re trusting something important in the hands of a stranger. If they ruin your hair, you can look and feel terrible for months. If a shoemaker ruins your shoes, he can break your heart. Therefore I have been serial dater when it comes to hairdressers and shoemakers for ages.
When moving to Antwerp I resolved my hairdresser problem when finding Snip Snip. Hiske, the owner, knows hair and is the first hairdresser where I always leave with a smile. As for shoemakers, I always test out new ones with a pair of cheep heels before I trust them with the my more precious pairs. More recently I also found a shoemaker that fixed my brand new pair of & Other Stories Chelsea boots when the metal heel came loose after only one day.
