Why you should put the Alsace area on your Christmas Bucket List

Location: , 4 min read

Right before the madness of leaving Belgium and the holidays, I was invited to visit the Alsace area. On the schedule were several Christmas markets and way too much delicious wine. The area is well known for its crazy Christmas markets and you’ll find plenty of articles online about them everywhere. Nonetheless, I will share a bit about my journey during Christmas time any way. Because the markets are so well-known, they were also super busy. I would love to visit the area when it’s more quiet. Whether you’re coming in for the pretty houses or the wines, there are plenty of reasons why you should put the Alsace area on your bucket list!

So much has happened since my last post! First of all, I’m on the other side of the world. I’m actually in one of the furthest places I can make it to from Belgium, Christchurch. It took three flights to get here.

Traveler’s Gift Guide Under 50 Euro

Our family has a secret santa tradition which I love. It makes life so much easier to only have to buy gifts for one person. Now faith usually has it that you draw the one person from the family that you have no idea for. As I was brainstorming the present I wanted to get for my beloved family member, I also all of a sudden had to think about what I would like. You see, if you have a traveler in the family, thinking of a good present can be hard. You want to make sure that your traveling friend or family member can actually use or take their present, right?! Therefore I created a short and cheap traveler’s gift guide under 50 euro! Actually most of these gift ideas are even under 30 euros, how easy is that. Here we go:

Visit Geikie Gorge in Western Australia

Location: , 3 min read

Choosing amongst your favorite spots during your travels is like choosing between your kids. Every spot moved or didn’t move you in a certain way and is, therefore, special in their own wonderful way. Geikie Gorge in Western Australia was definitely one of those places and is unlike any of the other spots down the Great Northern Highway. Where can you find this gorge? It is located in the northern tip of Australia. Right in the middle of the Kimberleys, where the Fitzroy river passes a little town called Fitzroy Crossing -go figure, right?-. In between the two big northern cities of Western Australia, Kununurra and Broome, on the paved highway that connects them. Unlike many of the national parks in northern Australia, you don’t need a four-wheel drive for this attraction. If you’re traveling around Australia in a van or a normal car, you can easily see this gorge as well! Of course is also reachable from the famous Great Gibb River Road, one of Australia’s most legendary four-wheel-drive roads.

Take A Microadventure to Dinant

Location: , 3 min read

When my Sunday afternoon plans fell through, I looked at one of my best mates and we decided to jump in the car and take a microadventure to Dinant. The term microadventure was first invented/claimed by adventurer Alastair Humphreys and can be defined as a “short, simple, local, cheap adventure”. It means that you can jump in the car or on the train and you don’t have to spend half a fortune on a plane ticket across the world. For me, these micro adventures are a way of life. There is nothing I love to do more than to inject a little bit of adventure into daily life. That is certainly the reason I love traveling so much. Every day is an adventure!
